Toby, It is good to see wikis and blogs are now seen as part of the intranet mainstream. In BT we now link to social media tools from our main corporate intranet homepage and our intranet default search engine includes content from social media as well as more traditional formal content published by a CMS for example. There's a huge demand for knowledge about what to choose, how to deploy it and what makes it be successful. As you know BT's intranet has had some success with this and I've posted on my blog http://markmorrell.wordpress.com/ some examples that build on your research which I find are most popular with followers.
